PostHeaderIcon Real Internet Marketers Are NOT Average People

Here's your free instant access to Closely Guarded SEO Secrets For Top Rankings

I got an email a few days ago about one of my products…

The email asked me “what the average person makes with this product?”

I was afraid to respond, but felt I should share this with everyone!

Why?

Because the ‘average’ person makes NOTHING

The truth is the average person (in the U.S.) also only makes about $30,000 a year – at a job they hate

Why?

Because they don’t try or are afraid to ‘better themselves’ you know to invest in yourself and your future

Why?

Because it requires extra work, extra effort & it requires you to do things you are afraid to do

You’re reading this today because you are NOT average

You’re putting in the extra effort to build a better future for yourself…

How good your future is depends on how hard you work in the present (today) and how much you actually believe in yourself, step outside your comfort zone and actually do what the ‘average’ person would not do

Internet marketers are not ‘average’ and the good ones are not even close to average…

Even the FTC wants to know the average results… guess what? The average results are no results!

A lot of people don’t even download the product they purchase… some even have the nerve to ask for a refund 10 minutes after they bought it, with some lame excuse why they want a refund – I’ve had it happen to me

Even a smaller percentage actually take action on any part of the product

Why?

Because it takes above average actions… a little bit more effort, a little bit of stepping outside your comfort zone ‘into the unknown’

I know of one particular marketer that starts going through a product and immediately takes action as soon as he find something that he wants to try… before going into the rest of the product

Guess What?

He’s way above average… and he’s now making over $40,000 a month after less than 2 years of experience online(marketing)

Does that sound like something you would want to do?

Then there should be no more I’ll do it later… I’m guilt too, but at least I’m making an effort to take avoid putting things off, I’m making an effort to step outside my comfort zone… I’m creating videos and I’m not a good speaker, I sound like I’m reading when I’m not, the lighting is off…

but guess what? Who cares as long as you do it – it will pay off!

Do me a favor and stop being ‘average’ it will kill your hopes and dreams

Please comment below telling me why you are not average and how you have already or plan to be better than average with your online business

You do amaze me,guess I am way below average because I make less than $12 thou a year. My first wages were 50 cents an hour. Ran away from home at 14 and 1/2 because I
got tired of beatings. Now I am trying to change all of
that. Yes I do want to make it on the internet,it is a lot
of fun and hard work, but it is worth it. Due to zero expe-
experience and understanding it takes time and lots of
    mistakes. Thanks JBode.

    • admin says:

Hey John it’s not about how much you make that makes you above or below average…

it’s about you being more willing to take action to better your life

everybody starts out with no experience, it’s good to make mistakes, but the important thing is learning from them

Thanks Jeff; For Those Positive Affirmations & Keep-Up The Good Topics, I Do Realized That This Online Business Is Just As Hard As Physical Work, But The Compensations Can Be 100X Much Better…

  • Garth says:

I agree, the average results are no results. A lot of people fall into the trap of getting excited by the promises of a sales letter, going through a product to some degree, maybe even starting to work on a project, discover that there actually is work to be done and a learning curve and some problem solving skills involved, then the next sales letter comes along and they think, this sounds easier, and start the whole cycle over again.

Success comes from doing the work and overcoming the hurdles that will always pop up. I’m not “successful” yet, but I know I’m on my way, because I’m doing the work and getting over, under, or around the hurdles every day, and I’m a heck of a lot smarter about this stuff than I was last year. If I had a little more time to put in, I’d be farther along, but I know I will get there.

  • Nick says:

To True I’ve bought every course, software, script over the years I could get my hands on even got my own products but it’s not easy you have to put in the hours big time, focus on what you want rather than jumping on to the next big thing an man is that so easy to do…fire into your new idea just to find its a bummer and then your on to the next thing some guru mails you…. Never Give Up! use what you buy…remember return on investment ROI if you don’t know how then ask… its all about action! I say to myself Nick You’ve bought it Know just do it ACT sell it make some money…..Other people can do it so can you! “Real Internet Marketers don’t give up!”

  • Very true Jeff. The average product, whether an e-book, video course, script or whatever, is only a tool. It’s the taking action with that product that can lead you to making money with it.

Of course, part of being a successful marketer is weighing up the return on investment vs time required from each product (yes, no doubt every product will work, but some will take much more effort than others and/or the return may be lower). Ideally, look for the ones that give residual income, so that once the system is set up, the maintainence requirements are not onerous. With some products, the most profitable course of action is just to be ‘below average’!

  • Tony says:

    Hi Jeff

I have a whole load of ‘average’ products on my hard drive. I’ve looked and read or watched most all of them. But guess what, I actually have used a few as well. Must have been lucky in the ones I chose to use because they turned out NOT to be average. All of them.

I’m now 60 years old so I don’t suppose I’ll get round to finding out if there are many other non-average products on my hard drive. Then again, with the ones I’ve used I don’t really need the rest anyway.

Good luck at finding your above average products folks.
Then again, if you just make the effort to use the products you think will suit your abilities, perhaps you will find they were not so average after all too.

    • Michaelse01 says:

As for being discouraged about the outdated stuff on your hard drive they are actually baby step training mini courses for you to create. Take a look at how you can streamline three or four of those reports and sit down with a targeted niche profile for the combined project and either create the streamlined version or a giveaway bundle, especially those that you have branding and re-rights privileges. Search through the Windows Search of your hardrive for your *.pdf files and just glance if you could and new subject that you could tie together amongst what you are about to dismiss as junk? How do you know if myself or someone else might not be looking for what you’ve got. That’s the reason that you have all these files and reports, for reference and content. Search you video library and other media libraries separately so that you can put some creative guide,video,mp3, package than can work for you. I also have some recommendations on creating a rss/reader account if you want to have just as big a niche superhighway link to relative information on your niche
if you don’t already have one.

    Jeff:

You’re bang on. Most marketers don’t make anything. I heard somewhere that only about 7% of Clickbank marketers maker more than $100 a YEAR!! I don’t know if it is true or not, but the people that I know are mainly hit and miss. Why? Because most don’t want to put in the extra small effort to go to the next level.

    Keep posting!!

  • Paul says:

Oh man good stuff Jeff. Looks like you write like you talk. I for one like it. You are the kind of person who will survive all the crap that comes with doing what we do.

The constant b.s. from naysayers and folks who only want the easy way in. You and I know there is no “Easy Way”. It takes guts, perseverance and a deep desire to become successful in this crazy world of Internet Marketing.

The list of mistakes I’ve made are longer than the wal-mart register line. But I forge on.

  • Paul Klein says:

    Hey Jeff,

Thanks always for your posts and information.

I agree that too many people have fallen into the trap of thinking it is “easy” to make money online. There is a mindset out there that figures if I ask enough people and get enough “free” information, I can make it too.

I have given away a TON of free information products as well as sold products and services to help people understand the process as well as help them to learn and invest in their future. I feel that many of them think there is some magic key or something that will send them money through their computers with little or no work.

I tell my readers to STOP listening to the hype and looking for a quick income. It does take time. Time to learn, time to follow proven steps, and time to piece together what works for the various individuals for what they desire in building a true business. What works for one does not always work for the masses.

I agree that it is time that we all start taking stock of what we offer, what we want to invest in, and take the time to offer proper guidance and instruction.

What is my time worth? I cannot put a price tag on that honestly, but it is far above what I would sell myself out for to some hourly wage job.

I won’t ramble on, but I have resolved to do better this year with definable goals and help for people, not worrying about what it costs. If people truly want to pay for value, I am not going to give it away completely free.

My free offers have been to enlighten people with easily followed steps to begin building an online business and see some money come in. The beginning is always the hardest. It is not about becoming rich overnight, but about taking the proper steps and following through, even when it seems tough.

I will be offering better support and encouragement this year.

Thanks again. May you choose wisely for your coaching. I am sure there will be many happy students with you!

    Best regards,
    Paul Klein

    Hi Jeff

Like the subject matter…..this is THE number 1 thing that we should be focussing on. It is time to wake up and smell the coffee BIG TIME.

Think people, including me, fail because they sleep walk there way through life. Most of the baby boomers have
had it very easy…well comfortable, they do enough to
get by. I hold my hand up and thats me.
I am almost the big 5 oh! and I am not happy where I am
financially. I have been blessed with a wonderful wife
and two great kids and they deserve a whole lot more.

Some gurus say if your ‘whys’ are big enough you can achieve anything. That isn’t strictly true, if you are
watching tv or tuning out and forgetting about your
reasons why, you won’t achieve anything.

I read one bit of good advice, God forbid, if you had
to check out tomorrow and someone asked…are you satisfied and happy with what you have achieved in your
life? That can give you a jolt.

So if you have a clear goal its time to make a list
of daily actions you will take…..AND most importantly review, nightly if you have done those steps.

Basically, if we have a computer and an internet connection we are already 100 times better off than most peeps in this world. Think of our parents or others that you know have worked there socks off….or even those poor souls scavenging around the dumps in India. Boy have we got it easy.

Sorry on a rant here…..not sure what the point is….i think I am giving myself a kick up the backside.

I will be checking in Jeff…keep up the great work…

    All the Best
    Shaun

I am in my second career, a freelancer. I spent 37 years working for the same company. I will be turning 65 in September of 2010.

There are so many things out there, that one has to distinguish between the good, bad, and useless.

The cost stops me from investing in many programs because I am not rich and living on the meager amount that social security pays me monthly.

I step outside my comfort zone everyday as I try to learn and grow as a marketer for my business and a client.

  • Michael says:

I like what I see on your site,
it does not have the hype.
I have just started looking into Internet marketing,
and I am have a problem getting my head around all the
different stuff to learn. In fact I am quite confused,
with all the information. I can only go in one direction at once, and everyone is saying their direction is the one to go. Like standing at 100 highway intersections, and trying to pick the correct one.
    So I am completely lost!

  • Hi Jeff,

You are so right! I have this quote by Albert Einstein pasted on my wall where I can see it all day long, while I’m working on my business. Every time I get sidetracked, and that still happens, I look at this.
Albert Einstein Insanity: doing the same thing over and over again and expecting different results.
The next step is to unsubscribe to those “guru’s” they only serve to confuse you more, and of course take out your credit card.

Thank you for a post that has just cemented the fact that I have to take action Now!

    Cheers

  • Hi Jeff,

Cracking post. You are absolutely right…. we are not average…. although I used to think I was. Now that traditional style businesses are going to the wall… because they are not moving with the times……I feel decidedly above average…..forward thinking…. open minded….building a worthwhile online presense. All this would not have been possible without stepping out of my uncomfortable zone.

    Onward and Upward

    All the very best

    Jeff,

I have my harddrive jam packed with MRR,PLR,Giveaway products, ebooks, courses, websites, etc.

My biggest problem i would say islack of a creditcard. I at the moment do not have a autoresponder that i can use. Most of the autoresponder companies require a creditcard.

Once i find an autoresponder service i then need to find some money so that i can prepare myself and my inventory to join all the JV giveaways.

I look forward to your reply. I reallycould use your help.

    Kindest Regards,

  • I am working on some things now with listbuilding but am having a heck of a time building a list. I am still plugging away using a safelist and traffic exchanges. It will all come out in the end. It is a slow process but it will work out as I learn more about listbuilding.

I’m fed up with being normal!
I am working hard to do much better than that but I am probably not yet working SMART enough.
Focus is incredibly difficult to maintain!
Let’s keep rolling towards that goal –
to be abnormal, and proud of it!!

  • doug says:

I am probably average in my reasons for wanting a better life and average with the struggles I face every day to be successful online but I am NOT average in my determination to make it happen. As frustrating as it can be, and has been, I have never once thought of giving up on it and never will. I will succeed if that means I first have to fail hundreds of times over. Because when it does finally start to come together, it’s gonna be huge!

  • Ken Mustain says:

Hey Jeff, I have watched your growth over the last year, and I have seen vast changes in your marketing strategies in that time. I find the most difficult part of this business is being able to create and maintain a website or blog. It isn’t that it’s so tough, its time management that is my major problem. I find a product or program I get interested in and I seem to waste way too much time fooling around with it before I am able to get back on track. I need to learn how to work smarter and to monetize my blogs and sites properly. I have tried outsourcing and have several unfinished sites. Coaching is something that I have lacked. I am beginning to think that I have made a huge mistake not finding a coach/mentor to guide me through the set up process and into the actual sales process. I have been struggling with the same issues for about a year and 3 months. Thanks for the help you have provided, and look forward to more.

    Thanks Jeff, Ken

Thanks Jeff for all your great advise! It so true people are affraid of change and failure. They will work at dead end job for nothing and not even try to do something new because they afraid of failure. But what they don’t know if they are taught the right way by some one like yourself they won’t fail. So I guess what I am trying to say is failure isn’t that bad. Giving up and not trying is what really sucks!

  • I have been working at building an internet business for a couple of years and I have a website that sells Australian clothing. I have some traffic and have had a few sales …I realize this may not be the best market and that a catalog website may not generate a consistent substantial income; however, I don’t feel comfortable selling “information” products because I haven’t had any personal experience with this “information” and I don’t want to take advantage of anyone in the way that I think some of the marketers do when they entice people to buy and the products turn out to be pretty much useless. I’d like to learn other ways of generating income on the internet without scamming anyone by not providing a genuine product.

  • doug says:

Had to share my fortune cookie fortune because it seemed so relevant to the plight of the internet marketer. “One dreamed of becoming somebody. Another stayed awake and became.” I can almost hear Yoda saying it except it’s more like “Mmm, becoming somebody one dreamed. Stayed awake another did and became. mmm, yes.” You just tried it in a Yoda voice didn’t you?! hehe. me too. Ok, I’m done.

  • Bruce Symons says:

    Thanks Jeff
You hit the nail right on the head. I have been doing internet marketing for years. Have had some great ones and some not so great. Every day i learn something new. I will never stop on my journey to financial freedom. I worked for the man for to long and am tired of making someone else rich off my labors. There is a lot of information out there all you have to do is sift thru the bull till you find what you need. Always remember if it sounds to good to be true it most likely is

Thanks for this excellent piece, Jeff.
I recently started taking immediately action on everything I pay for as well as advice rom mentors ( anyone who knows more than me because s/he walks his or her talk) and my business is sparking to new heights.
When I put your article marketing course to work I built my brand new list with my first article!
I adopted the motto ,”If I think I can’t then I must.” I constantly do things that scare me – and find there really wasn’t anything to fear! I figure if I am not scaring myself with my goals and actions I am not really living my life but just getting by.
I have never been average and don’t intend to start now.

  • Tom says:

I am just getting started with blogs and trying to do and learn something about them every day. I am currently up to 3 and hope to get up to 10 within 6 months. The problem will be getting them to produce an income that I need to live off. I therefore need to expand, but am not sure what to do since I am spending money for hosting and WPDirect that we can’t afford.
The only thing I can think to do is keep doing and keep trying to learn and monetize.

Hello: I haven’t been on line that long, most of the items I download I go through. I scan the books and then if they are good i go back and reread. The same with the videos, if they are good and will help me then I replay and take notes. I have just finished creating another ebook which will be on line hopefully in the next few days. I have a gardening ebook which I created and am getting hits from it. The book is free, but I’m hoping to create my list with it. I am doing this in my spare time as I had to go back to work to make some money to pay my bills. But I am determined to make this work some how. Thanks from Heather

I couldn’t agree more – an average Joe can make it in internet marketing, but not with an average effort!

I put in many hours, but my result is less than average – so it means I need to really re-think how I am approaching the topic and try to discover ways to up the ante as it were.

I do know there is no such things a free lunch or overnight riches – work and thinking outside the box seems to be the only way and putting in the time

So I have set goals, got more focused and am open to real ideas, not just more promo stuff.

    Hiya Jeff

Thanks for the offer of coaching – most people try this on their own and then give up after a few months.

THe only way is to find a coach or mentor who can help you succeed.

If you are giving this for free then that is a great deal – you have always come back with great responses to my email questions before.

Looking forward to all that can be developed through 2010 and all the best to other posters

I do agree that we are not average. Average always seems to be a bit boring. I don’t know of anyone in this industry that wants to be that way.

There is so much potential to make a comfortable living in this industry and I would like to get a piece of it.

Right now I just have to wait a little while longer to resolve a personal settlement and then I plan on “coming out” in a massive way. I do know that having a mentor is the best way to help achieve this. I can be beneficial for both the student and the coach. I can only hope that when I am in position to do this that I can find someone with enough patience and knowledge to help me.

Your offer of helping others is a great thing to do. I hope that whoever you decide to help will appreciate it.

    A future potential partner,

I didn’t get discouraged because in each course I found something that worked and i just kept going combining what i learned. I had a dream to make it to the first page of google and by studying seo for about 4 yrs I finally made it-google’s first page for free. Now I’m focused on getting even more traffic and I look foward to working with you in the future. Thanks for your support. ;-)
